10 Craft Ideas To Do With Chicken Coloring Pages

Here are 10 affordable, entertaining, and creative craft ideas you can do with your completed coloring page!

10. Party Decorations

For your child’s farm-themed birthday party, why not get them in on the preparations and have them color in a few chicken illustrations?

It’d be very easy for them to do a handful of decorations because some of the chickens could be left white – only the beak would have to be colored in.

Then, cut out the chickens carefully along the outlines and string them together to make a banner, prop them up next to food items, place them on the tables, or simply hang them on the walls.

9. Birthday Cards

Also, if you are attending a farm-themed birthday party, don’t spend the $4-5 on a card – instead, get your little one to help create a homemade one.

For kids, I think the best way to print a birthday card is to shrink the image to the lower-right fourth corner.

Then, print it off and fold it in half, short end to short end; then fold it in half again so that the illustration is on the front page.

Have your child color in the picture, and don’t forget to write Happy Birthday and a sweet message on the inside!

8. Envelopes

I recommend folding it so that the illustration is on the inside; this way, when the recipient opens the envelope, the chicken will be peeking out.

7. Play Props

To add to a collection of play props or perhaps start a new farm-themed collection, your kids can color in the chickens and cut them out carefully.

Then, they can mount them on cardstock (for durability) and cut them out along the outside.

Finally, they can play with the chickens as-is or paste crafting sticks to the back to hold them upright.

6. Puzzles

If you’re a teacher doing a lesson on chicks, chickens, or animals, this is a fun craft that is perfect for a class.

Have the kids color in the coloring page of their or your choice and then draw puzzle-like pieces directly over it, using a black Sharpie.

If the kids are older, the pieces can be smaller.

Then, cut them out carefully along the lines they have drawn and have them swap with their neighbors to put them together.

Keep the pieces together using zip-up sandwich baggies.

5. Colorful Chickens

For an avant-garde take on coloring in chickens, your kids – or you yourself – are encouraged to not shade in the figures to be lifelike.

Instead, get creative – what if the chickens existed in a magical land where nothing is like what it is here on Earth?

What colors or patterns could the chickens have?

As great as this exercise is for kids, it’s also a fun one for adults, who can use the prompt to de-stress after a long day.

4. Nesting Chickens

For this craft, you’ll need a little oval-shaped basket, plus some craft pom poms of varying sizes and glue.

Instruct your kids to color in the chickens as much or as little as they want, then cut them out, chopping off their legs (if they have any).

They’re going to reinforce the flimsy cut-outs with cardstock, cut down to the outline of the chickens, leaving a one-inch strip at the bottom.

Fold the strip of cardstock backward to form a tab; this is what you’re going to use to glue the chicken into the middle of the basket.

Glue the pom poms around the chicken – these are its eggs! If you have decorative grass or straw, you could also glue that in, too.

3. Finger Paintings

Put down a drop-cloth or vinyl tablecloth and let the littles get their hands messy as they finger-paint my chicken coloring pages.

2. Rocks

To join the Rock Out movement, all you need are some smooth stones between two and four inches long and some Mod Podge.

You’ll want to shrink my chicken illustrations down to one to two inches and print them off; have your little one color them in and then cut them out.

Then you’re going to Mod Podge the chicken figures to the rocks. You could also add a cute saying to the back, like, “I know where the cute chicks are.”

Then leave it at a park, playground, or other public outdoor locations for someone to find!

1. Feathered Chickens

For this chicken illustration craft, you’ll just need feathers – which you can find at your local craft store, if not the dollar store – and glue.

(If the prospect of giving children feathers and glue makes you queasy, you can also use petal-shaped pieces of construction paper!)

Have kids fill in the chickens with the feathers to create a fun, 3D illustration that is oh-so-fridge-worthy.
